Literature Review: Entrepreneurship problem for Economy

This “Ten Problems for Economy in the 2020s” booklet identifies ten relevant areas from very recent contributions put forward at academic level in the form journal articles, conference proceedings and students theses. Ten freely accessible internet references have been selected for each area and direct links are provided at the end of each chapter for own consultation. Our selected references do not intend to mirror ranking indexes nor establish novel classifications. On the contrary, they are meant to represent peer-reviewed, diverse and scientifically-sound case studies for vertical dissemination aimed at non-specialist readers. They will also be able to scoop even more references through the bibliography that is reported at the end of each selected reference.

Without further ado, these are the ten problems that we are going to introduce in this booklet:

  1. business,
  2. finance,
  3. policies,
  4. technology,
  5. debt,
  6. labor,
  7. entrepreneurship,
  8. markets,
  9. wealth,
  10. growth.

Each problem has its own dedicated chapter made of an introductory section, a short presentation of the ten selected references and a conclusions section.

The final chapter of this booklet will report the conclusions from each chapter again in order to provide a complete executive summary.

7 Entrepreneurship

THE PROBLEM — Today, along with national economic growth and job creation, the need for entrepreneurship is increasing throughout all societies. Some action centered theories are taking the study of entrepreneurship as creativity under the lens of sociology and network science. The importance of performance as profitability vs growth as size increases is rarely investigated. Youth entrepreneurship, female entrepreneurship and social capital development should be given higher priority by governmental policies.

CASE STUDIES — … buy this booklet from Amazon …

CONCLUSIONS — Government policy efforts and the improvement of a market’s financing environment can construct the social infrastructure for commercializing ideas, which can then improve entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship as a process of prefiguring and configuring an idea, can be mapped using the social systemic design approach, and Codesign, along with the sociocultural approach to creativity. The variety of growth measures and the role of time in measuring growth-profitability interdependencies still remain unresolved in research on firm expansion. The uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic has provided an impetus for entrepreneurship. Social capital, that is structures of social organizations such as social networks and common norms of benefits, can have a strong influence in the relations between institutions and entrepreneurship. The fundamental problems confronting many regions in the developed countries are a paucity of knowledge investments and human capital, resulting in problems of social and economic inclusion. Data suggest that uncertainties created by COVID-19 could cause half of the labor force around the world to lose their jobs. An analysis for Africa identified twenty generic issues posed to engineering entrepreneurship in the continent. Rural entrepreneurship does suffer from a lack of interdisciplinary integration as scholars across these fragmented and far-flung fields are not often aware of important work being conducted on related topics in other literature streams. The devastating context of the COVID-19 pandemic has created a new reality in which tourism has practically come to a standstill.
