Literature Review: Digitalization problem for Manufacturing
This “Ten Problems for Manufacturing in the 2020s” booklet identifies ten relevant areas from very recent contributions put forward at academic level in the form journal articles, conference proceedings and students theses. Ten freely accessible internet references have been selected for each area and direct links are provided at the end of each chapter for own consultation. Our selected references do not intend to mirror ranking indexes nor establish novel classifications. On the contrary, they are meant to represent peer-reviewed, diverse and scientifically-sound case studies for vertical dissemination aimed at non-specialist readers. They will also be able to scoop even more references through the bibliography that is reported at the end of each selected reference.

CONCLUSIONS — Digitalization in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution is the penetration of info communication and computer technologies into the mechanisms and business processes. In cloud manufacturing, all resources needed for manufacturing such as hardware, software, and manufacturing capabilities are virtualized. Resource scheduling and load service balancing are still relevant issues, together with automatic product pricing. The ultimate objective is to facilitate developments in management decision-support systems for the design, scheduling and control of resilient and digital manufacturing networks and production systems. In general, digital technologies have the potential to reinforce existing site roles and extend the level of competences of factories. The most effective method of eliminating bottlenecks in business processes should be recognized as automation, robotics, and the introduction of modern information technologies. Smart Maintenance is defined as an organizational design for managing maintenance of manufacturing plants in environments with pervasive digital technologies. For digitalized manufacturing logistics in Engineer-To-Order several digital technologies should be applied and combined. The three most relevant digital technologies for the food industry in Hungary are geolocating, cloud computing, and sensor technology. The accelerated digitalization coupled with ever growing new job demands in China’s manufacturing industry has led to serious concerns about rising continuance commitment and the loss of sustainability of careers among productions workers. Large leading firms with state participation in Russia, which have a global market presence and a substantial level of interoperability, are currently turning into a service business model.
